Why Virtual Therapy May Be Right for You

February 17, 2021 Posted by Kristen Stewart Breaking Dawn Therapy

Virtual therapy is becoming increasingly popular. When dealing with Stress, Anxiety, Mild Depression, and difficult life changes it can be overwhelming to research finding a therapist. Then once you find a therapist that seems to be a good fit, you are often having to research whether you can physically travel to their office and that the office hours work around your schedule.

About Breaking Dawn Therapy

You may be wondering if virtual therapy is right for you. Here are some reasons why you should consider a virtual therapist.

Better Access. You do not need transportation to get there. All you need is your smartphone or laptop to meet with your therapist. You can also expand your options. You do not have to be hampered by the geographic location where you live. Finding a “therapist near me” has never been easier since the “near me” can now expand to 50 to 100 miles or more (as long as the therapist is licensed to work in your state).

Anonymity. Stigma surrounding mental illness is a real concern when considering talking to a therapist. When you see a therapist from your own home, you do not have to worry about being seen at an office and wondering if anyone will see you there. You can see your therapist from a safe space where you feel most comfortable.

Ease of service. First off, seeing a virtual therapist is super convenient. You can log on to see your therapist from the comfort of your own home, and in your comfy clothes if you wish! It is easier to find the time to see your therapist when it is around your lifestyle.

Secondly, you will save time. You will not be driving around town, or out of town for that matter. Your time is valuable. Instead of commuting, why not use that extra time for some journaling, meditation, or other self-care that you really need!

Lastly, you can pay online through a secure payment portal. You do not need to speak to office staff to pay your bill. The system is automated for your convenience. At Breaking Dawn Therapy, you can pay using a major credit card or HSA Card through a HIPAA secure Stripe credit card processing system. Your payment is taken automatically after each therapy session’s completion.

4. Effectiveness. As more people are seeking virtual therapy, more studies are being performed and finding that virtual therapy is as effective as in-person therapy methods. For instance, a 2018 study published in the Journal of Psychological Disorders found that online cognitive behavioral therapy is, “effective, acceptable and practical health care.” The study found the online cognitive behavioral therapy was equally as effective as in-person treatment for major depression, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder.

We all struggle with life’s challenges. Whether it be difficulty transitioning into a new role at work, dealing with family issues, navigating through social anxiety, or feelings of depression, we have all experienced something that we have needed help with at some point or another. If you are looking for a therapist, Breaking Dawn Therapy offers a free 15-minute consultation, simply contact us to get started.
